No way...three posts in a week? It's not possible!
Yes, my friends, it is possible. I am BACK!
Just finished my writing for today...and lemme tell ya, it was exhausting. The writing itself wasn't hard, but it was a longish day and all I really wanted to do was get to bed. I managed to dash off a quick 674 words, however, bringing my grand total to 134,791. Not too shabby! Plus I should break 135k tomorrow! Not much of a milestone, but it's 5k closer to 140,000, and brings me nearer to my ultimate goal of 200k.
Speaking of numbers, played a game tonight that was kind of like solitaire...only it encompassed 500 piles of cards and was a race against a bunch of other people. I am exhausted. I never wanna see another number again.
Also spent a good part of the day helping my cousin narrow down his list of potential colleges. And by 'helping' I mean 'his mother and I did it while he whined about wanting to go to Best Buy & American Eagle.' We got his list down from 1,600 to 73 to 34, however, so I feel like we did a decent job. Now we just need to cross-reference schools with club/D3 baseball with the existing shortlist and we should have a decent starting point.
Wow...none of that had anything to do with writing. You can tell I'm tired. Back on the topic of my book, I'm excited but wary of the next bit. I really have to handle the coming chapter or so very carefully, so that Pilot may not only fall from grace but be redeemed, Bard can turn on Mer yet remain (somewhat) sympathetic, and everything will line up neatly with the very first scene I wrote: the scene that started it all.
No pressure, right?
What's really frustrating is that I feel like I was doing a really good job with the forest scenes I was writing a week or two ago...but now I'm back to a city and I feel like everything is a bit rushed. These scenes have to be faster-paced: one, because Bryn & Mer are on the run and I want the reader to feel as pushed and breathless as they do, and two, because city scenes should just have a more rapid momentum than forest scenes. Still, not happy. I'll have to force myself to slow down for the upcoming scenes, and maybe do a bit of rewriting on the last few bits I wrote.
Well, now that that's decided I think I'm gonna toddle off for the night. I had a delicious dinner (at Margaritas, yum!), even better dessert (homemade {by my grandpa} strawberry-rhubarb pie!!!), and am laying beneath half a dozen blankets but on top of a super cozy heated mattress pad. The fact that I'm even semi-functional right now is beyond belief. Besides, I've got to get up in the morning...my cousin decided we're going to 'get our nails did.' Disturbing.
À bientôt, mes gens!
